Doug, our server today, was great!! He was friendly and attentive. When my burger came out with cheese, he immediately went back to the kitchen to get the correct order...a cheeseless burger for me. He quickly delivered it with a fresh plate of fries. There were some cleanliness problems; we have to move over a table after being seated for a clean table. When we arrived off the interstate after driving for 6 hours, we noticed the parking lot was full and nearly drove off to another place. However, I noticed the drive-thru wasn't that busy and figured there were some non-customer parking issues. Sure enough, there were open tables. As I waited nearly 5 minutes at an empty register to pay, I thought I may mention the perception to the manager that finally took my money. She had a nasty comment about maybe people all drove separately and that's why the parking lot was full. Guess the point was lost that an overly full parking lot gives some people the impression there may be a wait. :( Doug...you made our day with your great service!

So I got here about every week with friends and get the same thing. Always have good service when we go about 7PM. But when we go around midnight the service is really poor. It takes them way to long to get you your food. And at times I have never had a refill on a drink when I've been there around midnight. Other than that its a really clean restaurant.

I go into S&S every couple of years and leave telling myself not to make that mistake again! Remember the crisp, slightly burned edges of the fresh slammed burger? GONE, nada, no more! The chili used to have meat in it, remember? Even the shakes, if you asked for no whipped cream I'd guess the glass would be half full. What a shame!

The burgers were tasty and the fries were warm. The $4 menu is a good value. The iced tea had a BAD after taste, so switched to a coke. The Three-way Chili was too sweet. The bathrooms were filthy and the floors were disgusting and slippery throughout the whole restaurant. The burgers were a 4, but the bathrooms are a 2.

Very fast and friendly service. I had the Patty Melt with fries. Food was fast hot and fresh. Also had an Oreo Shake. Very thick. Perfect. I wish we had these in Maryland. You have to look for the restaurant...it's hidden behind a hotel. Open 24 hours.

Born and raised in the next town over... every time i visit family Steak n' Shake is a MUST. We don't have one in California, at least not that I am aware of. And man oh man I have cravings for it. The burgers are so good and the side by side strawberry chocolate shake is what heaven tastes like. I don't recommend going through any Steak n Shake drive through because like all drive throughs, its put together in a hurry and as you are eating it your hands get messy. But the diner is too cute and they never get my order wrong. Someone needs to get this company to the west coast!!!
SHAKES ARE AWESOME ! ! ! ! You want a great burger/fries that come with a great price...stop at one of these. Nothing more I can say about these awesome places. When we do road trips or find us on the east side of the nation, we make a point to stop. We mostly stop for the shakes.

Stopped here on a road trip I've always loved steak and shake but honestly if there is a Culver's around go there instead the burgers are freakin amazing and the ice cream is way better than steak and shake its said I'm from Alabama and there are no Culver's!! But the waitress I had at this steak and shake was the worst I've ever had I SERIOUSLY left her a penny on TAILS!!

My wife wanted to come hear on our roadtrip after a yummy experience in Alabama. Well, the food here was pretty bad. The burgers tasted old, the buns were burned, and they looked like they were thrown together without much care. The order was wrong, and the place was pretty dirty, as well. However, the shake was pretty good, and worth the money, however the food wasn't worth waiting an hour for; my wife found this over an hour away and insisted that we wait to eat until we arrived. I'd pass on this Steak & Shake, and it made me reevaluate whether they are worth trying to find.
